Surf Lifesaving QLD

Case Study 2: Surf Lifesaving QLD

The Problem

Volunteer lifesavers at the 60 clubs throughout the state are often the first to apply treatment to major injuries such as shark bites and boat propeller injuries. With a long history of high-quality first aid on QLD beaches, Surf Lifesaving QLD required a major bleeding control kit to be carried to supplement their first aid kits which lacked modern major bleeding equipment.

Solution

TacMed worked with the SLS QLD corporate and education team to develop a custom bleeding control kit that was equipped with the same kit used to treat soldiers on the battlefield. These kits were branded with Surf Lifesaving colours and logos plus vacuum-sealed to protect the contents from the harsh environment of the beach.

TacMed supplied video learning assets to assist in the education of the trauma dressings and arterial tourniquets.

the Results

Queensland surf lifesavers are now patrolling beaches with world-class bleeding control kits and ready to treat catastrophic bleeding.
